This is quite possibly the greatest news I have ever woken up to. According to spanish fansite Sonic Paradise, SEGA have confirmed the release of a game titled Sonic Anniversary, which will be a collection of the very best stages throughout Sonic’s early career. We’ll be seeing levels from Sonic’s debut up until his short lived glory of the Dreamcast era. Each level will be re-made with a modern style. Whether this will be like the Green Hill Zone stage from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle or done in the style of Sonic Unleashed is still unknown.
Sonic Anniversary is confirmed to be appearing on the PS3, PSP, Wii and DS. No news on a 360 version but I highly doubt SEGA will pass on it. As well as this, a new Mario & Sonic title was confirmed but I doubt you care about that compared to the news above. I guess SEGA must have got some inspiration from that Mushroom Hill Zone video!
